Ichi 18 Teriyaki - Vancouver

I would rate this place zero stars if I could. I've been a regular at the 136th location since it opened and have never had any complaints until now. Today, I ordered a side of gyoza, but when I received my bill, I was charged for four sides. I explained to the cashier that I had only ordered one. Instead of resolving the issue, she argued with me, insisting that she had told me multiple times that I ordered four. In reality, she did nothing of the sort and was unwilling to correct the mistake, insisting on selling me three additional orders that I did not want. I hope it was worth losing my loyal business for those extra orders. There are many other teriyaki restaurants in Vancouver that will gladly serve me with respect and good service. A big disappointment from Ichi Teriyaki!

The teriyaki here is excellent! My husband usually orders the spare ribs with rice, while I always choose the chicken yakisoba, potstickers, and tempura with their delicious sauce—I can never get enough of it. They also offer free egg drop soup, which I absolutely love!

As a Los Angeles resident, I tend to have high expectations for Asian cuisine, but this place pleasantly surprised me. I ordered the spicy beef, and it truly delivered on the heat with red pepper seeds—I'm guessing it might have included gotugong as well. The accompanying side salad was a nice touch, and the meat was tender and packed with flavor. The woman who served us was incredibly helpful and clearly dedicated to her work. I would definitely return to this restaurant!

The food and service here are consistently excellent. I definitely recommend this place—the menu offers a great variety of options. Food rating: 5/5.
