Bona Cafe - Varanasi

Found this place while walking around in the galis of varanasi. Was initially pleasantly surprised to find a Korean place in varanasi. The decor was good and interesting at first instance. However when you step inside you realize it is old and filled with dust and is devoid of any maintenance. The food was utterly disappointing. The owner or whoever was at the counter was least interested in attending to the customers. Not being acquainted with Korean cuisine and looking for vegetarian options, I would have liked some advice but no one was available to provide any. Tucked away in narrow lanes behind the ghats of Banaras with minimum or no available mobile network, this cafe can be found with hippies all over the world chilling over a stick of MaryJane, few Korean dishes and desserts. Ambience-wise no nearby cafe beats it, dim lighting, soothing music, outdoor chairs as well as indoor cushions and a few books available if you're visiting alone. You won’t usually expect a place as soothing and well-maintained as this in the middle of the dense and chaotic alleys of Banaras. It’s hard to find waffles, let alone good waffles in Varanasi but Bona does a wonderful job with them. Served with bananas and ice-cream and chocolate sauce, it was a plate full of happiness. The Frappe was pretty spot-on too! We wanted to try something Korean and went with the Bona Donkas on the manager’s recommendation. Been there, loved it. It is situated at one of the narrow alleys of dashashwamedh area. Could be a little difficult to find but if you reach here you'll certainly not be left disappointed. I'm not an expert on Korean food but I really liked what they served, so it's a thumbs up from me. Go treat yourself with some Korean food!
