More or less, ok I guess, but certainly a little modified for American tastes. The Thai vermicelli dish was overly sweet, hiding the rest of the flavors. The vermicelli was over cooked and it being allegedly one of their signature dishes left me wondering why. Then I got the rice with fried pork belly and again, they claimed
What 's good? The shrimp chili paste fried rice with crispy pork was perfect; I could have it every day. The Tom Yum fried rice with shrimp was a delicious combination of spicy and flavor. The Khao soi with chicken was an amazing surprise. The service was excellent. This is not your typical Thai restaurant where you order Pad Thai and angry noodles. We loved it and cannot wait to go back.
We stopped in for lunch on a recent trip to DC and we were blown away. I had the Tom Yum Shrimp and my companion had the Floating Market Noodle Soup. First the Tom Yum; it was the best fried rice I've ever eaten, and having traveled to Thailand, I no stranger to Thai food. Next, the Floating Market Soup: the broth is so amazing, it could/should be bottled and sold to guests. Do yourself a favor and dine at Baan Siam!
The fish with ginger sauce tastes really interesting , and I recommend to try this one. The fried pork is so so, not very crispy nor with attractive smell. The rice noodle is pretty good. We wanted to try the boat noodle and customers from another table near us recommended us not to order that haha. I would call it ?good will from strangers?.
The staff at Baan Siam are amazing and the food is delicious. I generally eat Thai about twice a month and I can say this place is among the best I've had. The portions are big, the prices are very reasonable and service is great.
