Overall, D.C.'s City Center is not known for great food, but there is one exception - Centrolina. This Italian restaurant serves lunch and dinner and also has a market. During a Friday lunch with a friend, we had a great experience. The food is sourced locally and well-prepared. We enjoyed a salad, bread basket, and tagliolini with a fried egg on top. The drinks, including prosecco, were refreshing and there is a full wine list available. The service was attentive and polite, with our server successfully upselling us on additional items. The space is elegantly minimalist with large windows and a central bar. The only downside is the high price point, but this is to be expected in City Center. Our bill came to $180+ with a 20% tip for splitting bread, salad, prosecco, and tagliolini.
I had an amazing dining experience at Centralia! The staff was attentive and we even got to meet the talented chef. The dishes were not only delicious but also creatively presented. I recommend sharing everything on the menu to fully enjoy the flavors. The menu changes frequently, so there's always something new to try. The waiter also suggested a fantastic wine that complemented our meal perfectly. If you're looking for a unique and comforting dining experience with friends, Centralia is the place to go!
I didn't have a reservation, but they were still able to seat me at the bar. The wine was excellent! The Tuna Carpaccio I ordered was so delicious that I couldn't resist eating it all before taking photos (apologies). Everyone around me seemed to be enjoying their meals, with many compliments being exchanged.
