Malbec - Washington, D.C.

They do not honor any reservations. Absolutely embarrassing with my good friend who was in town for the first time. I feel embarrassed and dishonest. I'll never be back.

The food and wine selection were excellent. The staff is attentive

Very discouraging to visit the restaurant. For Valentine's Day. Upon arrival the only option was a Prix Fixe menu. No notification that was the only option. Also sent in the confirmation email before arrival, it mentioned that the Prix Fixe menu was optional. My partner is vegetarian, so I would never have made reservations in a restaurant that only offers meat options on the Prix Fixe menu. His salad cost $100. Type of extortion of the customer, as all DC restaurants are booked weeks ago for the V Day, so there is really no alternative to dinner at night. They were also pressing about the reservation only one and a half hours, which is understandable for Valentine's Day. However, it took 40 minutes until our appetizers arrived, 20 minutes for the duck, and then an additional hour for the desert are served. Slow service on the V Day is to be expected, but two hours push it, especially if it so claims over the deadline. Sometimes bad service happens, but it really bothers me when businesses are dishonest, why, although the food was fine, I never return and will actively stop others from going to Malbec.

Wasn't here long. Was very impressed with the food and wine. Great taste, fun staff and fair value! Meat-heavy menu, but definitely options for non- meat eaters, also. We'll be back.

The food was delicious and the service was very good. The major drawback was the cold air rushing in each time the entrance door was opened. They desperately need some type of door treatment to reduce this such as an outdoor entry vestibule or an inside drape/curtain.
