You can definitely tell it is made locally... So good. There was a variety of beers to choose from, so something for everyone.I will definitely return to try the dinner menu. Can't wait.
We finally talked our meat eating friends to join us for an evening at Jane's and no-one missed their meat! A filling and delicious menu with so many options to try... A must for anyone who is open to a new experience... A treat for the non meatier in the group to have so many options
A group of friends and I decided yo go here for a casual fun dinner out. The waiter we got was clearly not thrilled about being there and that showed in his service. He was slow to come to the table, but throughout the meal he never came by to ask us if we were enjoying our food. And when it came to the actual meal it was incredibly disappointing and actually quite bad. I ordered the soup for that day and it was so salty I could only eat half. There was not much substance to it, barely any vegetable in it at all. It was all just broth. The others at my table were also very dissatisfied with their meals and the two who decided to get a cocktail regretted it upon first sip. From what they said it wasn't a bad drink but definitely not worth the $10.50.Soon after the night we went to the Jane Bond for supper I discovered that the chef had left the month prior and there was no new chef... explains the crappy food but doesn't make up for poor service. Will never return and would discourage others from going. There are much better restaurants in the area for the same price range.
This used to be a favourite haunt of mine when I lived in Waterloo and I still visit when passing through because of their rock solid dependability when it comes to delicious vegetarian dinners made with fresh ingredients. Service is top-notch, too. On my recent visit I had the Spinach & Ricotta Lasagna with garlic ciabatta, and I don't know which to brag on more: the lasagna or the huge wedges of garlic ciabatta bread with air pockets the size of my thumb. It was crunchy yet perfectly chewy in a sourdough sort of way and glistening with butter. The lasagna was surrounded by interesting salad ingredients such as a tangy microgreen (cress?). The decor hasn't changed in the 20 years I've been going there: I feel transported to a kitschy 70s movie, and where are the hippies kissing in a corner booth of this dark and cosy little restaurant decorated with mid-century modern chrome and formica, bead curtains and local art?
A little off the main drag in uptown Waterloo, this place has good drinks, awesome staff and some okay good. The anijitos are terrific. Worth a visit with a very laid back hipster vibe where everyone is smiling and always welcome:).
