This is the go to Friday night dinner whenever I head to LA to visit our Cali crew. My brother loves the veal parm while I prefer the chicken
In LA it's nice to have a few places that stay open longer than one year and have dependable service, drinks and food.
Classic place- I’ve been a time before but I had reservations the first time. This time I walked in and was able to get a spot at the bar- barely. Fun environment. The food is good. I had the half and hall- I actually didn’t know what it was as the menu doesn’t explain. It’s half Bolognese and half Ravioli. I enjoyed it. It’s classic Italian-American. Not authentic Italian. But delicious The host, Terry, is a gem. Great guy. Bartending is quick and makes it a fun evening.
The service is the BIG winner here. We live in a world where service can be very mixed, as restaurants find it hard to keep hold of staff or waiting staff do the job as a stop gap. Or the restaurant lives off a reputation and doesn’t consistently provide good service. At Dan Tanas you feel special from the moment you walk through the door. The Maitre D is top class, he knows exactly what is going on. The waiting staff are super friendly and make sure you are really well looked after. The food is great and memorable; it’s not Michelin star but that isn’t why you come here. I can’t believe people complain about the food prices. They are on the website! We thought it was very reasonably priced. We will definitely be back and wish we had a Dan Tanas in London!
