By the long line of people we scoped in on the Sportsmen’s Cannery. I guess it has recently taken new ownership as a girl explain to us. We were greeted with smiles and positive energy. The smoked fish was delicious and the canned tuna we bought was the best we’ve ever had. The owners personally gave us a tour of their operation. It’s so great to hang with people that are excited to do what they do. After getting to know everyone we ate out on a picnic table in the sun, feeling the salty ocean air. Halibut fish tacos were awesome and reasonable. This is a place that you shouldn't miss out on. Watching the fisherman bringing in their catch thru the doors was so exciting for the kids.
I went into sportsman's cannery and smokehouse for the seafood BBQ. I first bought some smoked tuna and put that in my cooler and then went and had lunch..The gift shop help was a very friendly young woman named Brandi I believe, then I went and ordered the salmon, halibut and oysters. The meal was WAAAY overpriced! the salmon was WAY undercooked...still raw in the middle and the halibut was WAY overcooked. I would not eat here again or buy ANY of the rotten rancid fish in the shop... VERY disappointing! I will tell everyone I know to steer clear of this ROTTEN establishment! I was also, I feel HOUNDED by 2 men who would not stop tooting the cannery horn.(obviously an owner I am guessing).VERY irritating...a younger man and an older man just stood there and Blabbed about the place and stared at me...VERY awkward felt like they were used car salesman. I will never return..and if anyone else is considering a visit...skip it! Head on to Florence to the Crab Kettle...You will get MUCH better help and PRODUCT! Skip Sportsman's Cannery and Smokehouse!
