We began with cocktails and I ordered escargot in mushroom caps, while my partner had soup. The dishes were served hot and delicious. For my main course, I had the perfectly cooked medium lamb. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner, especially the chocolate served with coffee. I mentioned my love for chocolate, so they made sure to have a glass of truffle waiting for me when we finished our meal.
The only thing we would ask about is the sauce that was served with the duck. Neither myself nor my spouse were a fan of it. The halibut was a great experience, very tasty. The wines that were recommended were nice. Overall, great job and good service.
If you only have one choice for a meal, you might as well give it a try and make the best of it. The chicken and pork dishes we ordered were tasty. The service was excellent.
We stayed at the birches on the way back to halifax after we had visited a high time in sydney, as a related had been knocked over the restaurant. I was completely surprised not only in the size of the gasthof, but also in the quality of our culinary experience....We also had the seafood risotto and healed divine! and another surprise was to taste such great wein, a great pairing with the meal nowa scotia wein can be another ground to travel to the east coast. excellent service added to the pleasure of the meal. we also got a short tour through the gas house of the charming barbara. very impressive and that must be the place to stay the next time, we are in the opposite.
The menu is small but the choices are all appealing. The service was by far the best I have experienced. The wait staff were very knowledgable both of the menu and of the local area. Both the lamb and the halibut were very well prepared....The seafood risotto that came with the halibut was divine. The beet salad was great..a nice combination of flavours. This place is a great spot for a splurge ,as its pricey but worth it for a nice indulgence. If you go and are not from the area, the staff are a wealth of knowledge in recommending what to see in the local area.
