I would like to give a better review, as it may have just been an off night or they were short-staffed. Unfortunately, the food was not up to par and neither was the service. We waited a long time to order our dinner after finishing our appetizers. I can see that they were making an effort, so I don't think it was due to lack of trying. This was not the typical experience we have had in the past. Hopefully, we just happened to come on a bad night. Despite everything, the staff was still very pleasant and I did appreciate that.
Everything about this experience was amazing from the time we walked in until the time we left. The food was outstanding. Brandy our server was so good that I will ask for her each time I go and I plan on being a regular. I want to gatekeep so bad but I will tell others. ?
We had an amazing first time going to Kapers. The ambience, wine, chef to table- the whole experience was wonderful!
My only issue was with the staff, as they seemed a bit disorganized at first. It was unclear who our server was, but once we mentioned this, they assigned one staff member to take care of us for the rest of the evening. While we were initially welcomed in casual attire, I personally would prefer a dressier dress code to match the beautiful surroundings and food. However, my wife thought it was great that we were made to feel welcome regardless of our attire. The music choice also seemed out of place, as the beach boys playing didn't quite match the elegant atmosphere. Overall, I believe this restaurant is worth a visit. I will definitely be returning despite my minor criticisms. Don't let my nitpicking deter you from experiencing one of the best meals in Chesapeake.
Charming little tapas place, lots of delicious small plates. Very busy on a Wednesday, clearly popular! Shaved Brussel salad and half loaf were standard but very good, highlighted by the olive oil and truffle herb compound butter. Sliders were flavorful, just maybe a touch dry, but not bad at all. Kefla Flambe was excellent, and of course the spot-on presentation is always a delight. Forgot to snap a pic of our bronzed scallops, but they were delicious as well, with outstanding chorizo and mango chutney. Korean Short Ribs with Yuzu BBQ were perfectly savory, a must-try! Lavender cheesecake and pistachio ricotta cake were an ideally unique and sweet way to finish the meal. Great, friendly service, easy to see why this place has so many great reviews and is so popular!
