The Root - Hayes Subdivision

You have to try their chicken and waffles,absolutely delicious,my favorite. Their fish and chips and ribs are delicious a well. Very friendly and accommodating staff. There is specials every day of the week and lunch reward program.

I stopped at The Root in Coldbrook for supper last night. I wasn't really in the mood for anything specific and ended up ordering the Beef Dip and Fries. I didn't leave hungry! The portion was quite ample with a good size sandwich and plenty of fries. They make their beef dip with sauce and melted cheese right in the sandwich instead of just dipping in the sauce. The sauce itself was more like a gravy than an 'au jus' - it was good, just thicker than most I've had. As a result, I had to eat the sandwich using a knife and fork. First time I ever had to do that, although that might not have been a bad thing if you've ever seen me eat. I'd go back!

Been here a few times over the last two years for lunches. The food is consistent and there is a nice variety. Have ordered lunch salads, sandwiches, but was really surprised with the Meat Pizza on my last visit. Crispy crust which I like (some might not), generous toppings on the pizza. It has been quiet every lunch visit.

I have to say, the last couple of times we have dined at the Root, the food has been excellent. The fish with the fish and chips needs some work ... obviously precooked and quite greasy, but every single other menu item that we have ordered has been excellent. Presentation as also been quite nice considering the cost. Keep up the good work folks, glad to see this place has really turned into a nice dinning experience!

If you're looking for a place to eat that is going to fill you up then the root is a good choice. I find the service to be average and the experience inside it a bit below entertaining. No music was playing both times I was in and energy was a but muted.They can really go further if they focused on the customer experience. Last time we were in, staff were complaining about their personal lives.
