We had to ask housekeeping twice before they finally came to clean our room on one day. Even though it was advertised, there was no umbrella service on the beach the Sunday before Labor Day. We stood on the beach for 30 minutes waiting, and no one showed up. The pool is quite small. One morning, we went to the on-site restaurant for breakfast, and it took an hour for our food to arrive. The waitress wasn't interested in making the juice I requested. Don't be fooled by the fake Starbucks – the coffee was absolutely terrible. Additionally, the drinks by the pool were extremely watered down! This was not a four-star experience. The location was great, and the dinner at the restaurant was fabulous. I also enjoyed being able to bring my dogs along. However, considering the price, the service did not meet my expectations at all!
The staff at the hotel was friendly and professional. However, the hair dryer and iron in the room could use an upgrade. The location has limited dining options, so if you're a picky eater, you might need to venture off the island for more variety. While the hotel staff describes The Westin as a full-service hotel, which it is, the atmosphere feels a bit sterile despite its modern design. The front lobby lacks warmth and is reminiscent of a large hospital’s lobby. In terms of the rooms, the selection of TV channels was quite limited, but the room itself was clean. On a positive note, most attractions are within walking distance.
I had a pleasant stay at the hotel. The room was nice, though there was no room service available. The beach wasn't ideal as it was muddy. There are three dining options, including one by the pool. I must say, the elevators were among the best I've ever encountered. The shuttle service was exceptional, taking us anywhere we needed to go and running until 11:00 PM. They also offer valet parking and bell service. Overall, I would consider staying there again.
Kudos to the Marriott chain (Westin, Courtyard, Residence Inn) on Jekyll Island for being so sea turtle friendly! I wish ALL hotels on the southeastern coast would follow in your footsteps. Orange lighting on all outside light fixtures on all hotels, education in each room to share with guests about how lights affect sea turtles, and signs posted on the way on the beach access alerting guests about sea turtle nesting season.
Highly recommend The Westin Jekyll Island. We had another wonderful stay at The Westin at Jekyll Island, one of several this year. Jessica Rogers, front office supervisor, was beyond helpful again and I also wanted to mention Jessica Ryles and Anna on the front desk. We very much appreciated the wonderful upgrades and great service. We really enjoyed our oceanfront rooms, breakfast in the restaurant, and the bikes on property. Everything is very convenient to enjoy from the beach access, beach chairs, pool, on-site restaurant, bikes, etc. We will be returning!
