I enjoyed eating and would have enjoyed the meal more if there were more people living the atmosphere.
Large small restaurant that we found on the internet, we wanted a steak but did not want to eat to the expensive restaurants on the promenade. that was a very good meal, the steak was tender and the service was good, the price was very. good for steak and a bottle of wine.
We have visited nizza for the last 2 summers and gedimt every time in this restaurant. eating is of a high standard with generous portions. we can especially recommend the french woof and the steaks are really good. the restaurant is located in a hotel and beautifully decorated, a pretty change from the tourist places. the personal was friendly and obligated. a tip, make sure that they are a point of demand for water, if they want to fill water naturally, otherwise they give them water filled and charge for it.
What to say?! After living and eating here in Nice for 5 years, we feel truly blessed with such brilliant food. We 've been to 60+ restaurants/bistros 5 of them truly world class, 25 excellent, 25+ very good, 5 totally ok but maybe not quite...so special. You can see from my other reviews that I am almost always positive. Then we [re visited this place, Wow. It specialises in steaks. We ordered a fillet and a sirloin, both 'a point ' [in French, a bit less than medium in English . The waiter was very nice and spoke perfect English but also happily and cheerfully suffered our pretty passable French. Really nice guy. Chilean wine was superb. Then the steaks arrived. We always quickly cut the middles to make sure it 's not over cooked but it almost never is. French chefs really know their steaks. The fillet was perfect [as always but the sirloin was almost beyond well done. Completely dry. Brown throughout. I 'm normally fairly relaxed about this but this was very very over cooked. We showed the waiter and he was fine and went back to the kitchen. Then the French/Lebanese? owner arrives and starts shouting and insulting us that... ' 'the English ' [we 're Scots so he already had our backs up ... ' 'they always complain... that steak is perfect... no need to change.. ' '.... .we politely pointed out that the crematoreum probably sends out less well done stuff.... the waiter was embarrassed as he knew this we were right.. my wife who is usually very placid said 'right, you can 't insult us like that, we 're out of here ' [obviously paying for the wine we 'd drunk ..... but the owner stood in front of us and threatened to call the police! [No more details as it was both immensely boring and extremely rude . The waiter finally acted as a great peacemaker and went to get us another steak. But the owner kept talking and mumbling in earshot at the bar about 'the English ' always being a problem and liking steaks way too raw [has he ever met an English person?.. quite the opposite in our experience?! .... as it 's a hotel too, I 'd reckon he relied on the English amongst other 'foreigners '? . The next steak arrived by the waiter and was perfect. Obviously we would never ever go back and never ever EVER recommend the place steaks would have been 9/10 but the rudeness of the owner made the place 0/10. Why does anyone need such attitude? There are many places better in Nice for steak and with charming owners. I 'd actually be fascinated to see if he deems to reply to this on TripAdvisor as he can do.... and apologise profusely. If he does reply and apologise, then go there for the steaks. If he doesn 't never EVER even think about going within 100 yards of the place. He makes Basil Fawlty look like a suave polite diplomat. The waiter is brilliant however.
This has been the best restaurant where we went in our vacations in NIce. It has the best quality/price ratio. The rest restaurants were more expensive and food was not good, typical for tourist Bad and Expensive . I had a huge and juicy stick, and...I could taste my wife´s Pasta with seafood that was great also. The waiter suggested us a Pina colada (pineapple cocktail) that was gorgeous, We recommend it!
