Braceria Lippolis - NOCI

Almost hesitant to write about how wonderful our experience was, for fear the rest of the world will be there the next time we visit. But, there you have it...Braceria Lippolis is what every restaurant aspires to be. Do not walk past the simple and quiet store-front style entrance for within you will find the freshest cuts of meats: beef, pork, veal, organ-meats, all ready to be cut to order. You may look at the menu or, do as we did and walk to the display refrigerator and point to select. Choose as much -or as little- as you want and it is expertly simply) grilled just feet away...in fact, you will see your selections on skewers over the flame on the other side of the glass partition. You will be charged a very reasonable amount) by weight of what you've ordered. Maybe you will do what we did and, after trying a small portion of just about everything, we ordered a repeat portion of the fantastic livers which were rolled with thinly-sliced and flavorful pancetta and grilled to pink-doneness perfection! Braceria Lippolis also offers lovingly cooked vegetables when we were there, it was eggplant and zucchini and roasted new potatoes) and cool-crisp salad greens, decent table wine, with local olives and -naturally- taralli to start. Cookies locally made) were brought to the table after our meal, adding to the festive holiday atmosphere of December. The service is provided by a considerate and thoughtful staff who, understanding we spoke only limited Italian, were patient and polite and paid us the ultimate compliment by treating us just like the other diners. The focus here is on the locally sourced food...Locally sourced not because it is the trendy thing to do now-a-days, but because it is the BEST ingredients in Puglia. Do not come here expecting ambiance decor and tables are Ikea's best) but do look around and recognize the establishment is spotlessly clean. All-in-all, the dinner we had at Braceria Lippolis made us wish we had found it on our first night in Noci, and not our last. That said, we will return...as they have made a place for themselves on the list of our favorite top 5 restaurants in the world!
